Following "severe turbulence" that left one person dead and thirty injured, a Singapore Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Bangkok on Tuesday, the airline said.
The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, was en route from London to Singapore. The aircraft, according to Singapore Airlines, "encountered severe turbulence en-route" over Burma before making a diversion to Bangkok, Thailand, while flying at 37,000 feet."Singapore Airlines extends its sincere sympathies to the deceased's family. We sincerely regret the horrific ordeal our passengers and crew went through on this flight," the statement read. "We are providing all necessary assistance during this difficult time."
Four Americans were on board the aircraft, and the airline said that another thirty passengers were hurt.
The Associated Press reports that police have identified the deceased passenger as a 73-year-old British man. His precise cause of death is still unknown.
"Suddenly the aircraft [started] tilting up and there was shaking so I started bracing for what was happening," described 28-year-old passenger Dzafran Azmir to Reuters. "And very suddenly there was a very dramatic drop so everyone seated and not wearing a seatbelt was launched immediately into the ceiling."
"Some people hit their heads on the baggage cabins overhead and dented it, they hit the places where lights and masks are and broke straight through it," Azmir stated.

According to The Associated Press, videos released by Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport showed ambulances rushing to the area as soon as the plane touched down.
In response to FOX Business's request for comment on Tuesday, Boeing did not immediately provide an answer.
