Google Pixel 8a specifications surface

The Pixel 8a from Google is expected to make its debut at the annual I/O developer conference in May. It has already been seen in CAD-based renderings, and there has been a worrying rumor that it costs more than the Pixel 7a.

Since then, we've been curious about what improvements it would offer to make the price increase more tolerable. Today, a fresh leak provides the information. Like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, the Pixel 8a will be powered by the Tensor G3 chipset and have a 120 Hz refresh rate, which is a first for an a-series Pixel.

As you might imagine from its name, the new mid-ranger's general appearance resembles that of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Its screen will have a maximum HDR brightness of 1,400 nits. The 8a will use the same cameras as the 7a and offer DisplayPort output.

The wider availability of the Pixel 8a is arguably its most interesting feature. The Pixel 8a will be released in the following new countries in addition to the 21 that the Pixel 7a is now available in: Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
